multiPOPtural is now Zero Dark Nerdy
We have a few announcements and updates to give you, but before we do so, we want to take the time to thank all of you for a great first year of the podcast! I came up with multiPOPtural in February of 2018 right after the Eagles won the Super Bowl. I was fortunate enough to have 4 of my good friends join me on this ride. The name itself is a combination of multicultural and pop culture, which we think best defines us and the show. Now multiPOPtural will always be the main hub, but we have wanted to rename the show for some time now. multiPOPtural is hard to pronounce and spell for a lot of people, and it's not exactly a huge hit on search engines either.
So let's get to the big news. First and foremost, we asked, you voted, and Zero Dark Nerdy is the unanimous winner of the name contest. I've been toying around with that name for almost 6 months, and after taking it to a vote on our I love the 90's poll, as well as on our social media sites, Zero Dark Nerdy beat out all the other names without a contest. So moving forward, the show will be called and known as Zero Dark Nerdy.
New Programming:
As we enter year 2, we are expanding the multiPOPtural Universe. To clear one thing up, the band is still together. We may not have all 5 of us on every single episode, but we are still very much a collective unit of awesomeness. We are also adding some past favorites as guests on certain episodes like Skyler Brown, Louis Mastro, Mark James, J. Timber, Jenna Forbes, Brian Lewis, Andrew Newman and our buddy Tim Howell, who's been crushing it on the blog page the past few months. His articles are well written, informative, and fun. You'll see the original members of mPOP popping up on each others shows here are there as well. New Podcast Shows we have coming up include:
- The Watercooler (Sports Based Podcast) and Screen Time (Video Games and Certain TV Shows) with Saba
- N-W-Bros (Wrestling Podcast) w/ Mateo, Tim Howell, Louis, Skyler, Mark and company
- HORRORable People (Horror Movie Podcast) w/ Russ Harvey and Brian with some of the guys from ZDN
Video Streams:
We are adding 2 new video streams to the slate in 2019. We have a new food show where we showcase and feature local restaurants and food trucks here in the Carolinas. Still working on a title (F*ck that's Delicious is already taken), but right now it's The Food Show which will be on our FB live page then later released on our YouTube Channel. Our first show is Thursday June 13th featuring some new menu items from Stumble Stilskins with Chris Flathers, as well as past guests of the podcast, Michael Tourek and Natalie Garcia joining us. On Wednesday June 19th, we'll be at Bites and Pints with Kris Fuller and Mike Bosco tasting some of their delicious menu items. Each show we'll talk about the food, enjoy some laughs, and see what's going on at each establishment and in the area. The second show will be called Batteries Not Included, and we'll be reviewing toys, games, funko pops, gadgets, and throwing in some unboxing videos as well.
So that's the big news. We're still your favorite pop culture podcast on the planet, and are no longer the hardest to pronounce. We're just building on the empire we started working on back in April of 2018 and thank you for joining us on this incredible journey.
