My staff pick for the month of July is Black Summer on Netflix. When I saw the trailer for Season 2 come out, I figured I'd at least give Season 1 a shot. Unlike most shows where it takes a few episodes to get into it, I was hooked about 30 minutes into Episode 1 of Season 1. This show is shot incredibly well which leads to a lot of tension while watching episodes. It's a very guerilla-style, call of duty type of cinematography that provides the intensity and stress of watching the series. To me, this show is a combo of 28 Days Later in regards to the run for your life zombies that go full steam ahead, with great character building very similar to The Walking Dead. This is a great watch for fans of fast zombies, excellent cinematography, and good storytelling.
