Whose Voice Was in the Post-Credits Scene of The Eternals?
Before you read this, just like our podcast episodes, there are spoilers ahead.
It's opening weekend for The Eternals, the latest film in the MCU directed by Oscar Winner Chloe Zhao (Nomadland). We'll have our podcast review of the film out this week, but in the meantime let's talk about the post-credit scene of the film. Kit Harrington's character isn't in the movie much, but towards the end of the film, he tells Sersei (it's weird hearing Jon Snow telling a person named Sersei that he loves her) that after doing some research, he has "an interesting family background". In the second post-credits scene, we see Kit Harington's Dane Whitman looking upon the fabled Ebony Blade. He's hyping himself up to do something with it, muttering, “You can do this, you can do this." As he finally works up the nerve to touch it. Whitman says, “I’m sorry, I have to try,” but he's stopped by a voice from off-screen. “Sure you’re ready for that, Mr. Whitman?” Whitman stops. Then? Cut to black.
We had an idea of who it sounded like from his past films and shows, and it has been confirmed by Chloe Zhao that the voice is from none other than Mahershala Ali, who unless you've been living under a rock the past few years, is playing Blade in the MCU. Vampires are a notable part of the Ebony Blade’s comics history, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Dane ends up in Marvel’s upcoming Blade feature, which is supposed to come out in late 2022. Even though we didn't get to see Mahershala, it was pretty cool getting to hear his voice for the first time in the MCU. What did you think of the post-credit scenes?
